Whitney began her musical career learning
to play the accordion from her Mother at the age of 5. At 8
she studied piano under Jazz Great Dub Johnson, and at 10 she performed on
Steinway's 100th Piano Anniversary Television Extravaganza.
Whitney began formal training in classical piano and violin while
attending Holy Names School in Oakland, CA. During this time
she also studied classical piano with Concert Pianist Alexander Ludwig.

After graduating from Holy Names, Whitney joined her mother's Music
Center, teaching piano, accordion and violin. During this time she studied
standard, classical and flamenco guitar, bass, flute, marimba, vibes,
viola, and cello with various music teachers who worked at the Center.
While working with her mother at their Music Center, Whitney wrote,
choreographed and directed several musical reviews.
At 21 Whitney traveled with a 5-piece Show Band throughout the United
States and Canada, as Lead Singer and Lead Guitarist, and filling in on
keyboards, flute, banjo and bass.

After 10 years on the road, Whitney decided to settle down. She moved to
Vacaville, California where she performed on the weekends with her own
group, The Sounds of
Nirih, and taught music during the week.
A few years ago Whitney was drawn to the Celtic Harp and the Native
American Flute and has added these instruments to her ever-growing list of
musical instruments.
Whitney has been teaching music for over 50
years. She prides herself on making music "FUN" for all of her students.
She loves working with adults as well as children, and has developed a
system that allows her adult students to play whatever kind of music they
want within a very short period of time.
